Many kids in poorer families have to cook their own dinner bc their parents are still at work or working multiple jobs. What’s easier for a child: putting a pizza in the oven or making a full meal with 6 different ingredients all with different prep requirements?
While those 6 ingredients/fresh produce will cost more than the pizza, they also take more time and resource to cook. It’s not just about the price of the food. If your parents had time to teach you to cook well for yourself as a kid you’ve been very lucky.

When I’m in a shitty episode the last thing I can be bothered doing is making a full meal from scratch, so I reach for whatever’s in the freezer and cooks with minimal effort. It may not be healthy for me but at least I actually eat something that day.
If you have a single parent in a major depressive episode who is unable to cook for their kids one day bc they can barely function, at least that pizza is food in their belly and they won’t go to bed on an empty stomach.

Some of you really have no idea.
