Over the years I’ve served on many Charitable boards...some very big, others nimble. What Michelle Douglas said today is enough to warrant at the very least an investigation by the CRA Charities division and quite possibly an immediate suspension for what is in the public domain
If a Board Chair asks for any information and it is not rendered, or blows a whistle and gets dumped, then oversight and feduciary responsibility is gone. And if the Chair is replaced by a chum rather than a person of integrity, then it’s time for government regulators to step in
in order to protect the donors who have placed their money and trust in the organization to carry out the corporate objectives. If this does not render a quick CRA response then there will be more at stake than the reputation of a Charity, its assets, and its alleged contracts.
