2008: This year’s Exercise Pitch Black saw @AirForceNextGen debut from Malaysia with KC-130M and F/A-18Ds, and @NATO bringing an E3A Sentry. @Armee_de_lair also brought an E-3F Sentry.
2008: An Exercise Pitch Black farewell too for our B-707 (retired immediately after the exercise, DH-C4 Caribou (retired November 2009), and @TheRSAF F-5s.
2008: Other participants included Thai F-16s, @TheRSAF F-16s, KC-135s and E-2C, and @USMC F/A-18s and KC-130J. #AusAirForce flew our Hornets and F-111s.
2010: @NZAirForce brought a C-130H Hercules, and we farewelled our F-111s from Ex Pitch Black before their retirement the following year.
2010: #AusAirForce participation included F/A-18s, Hawks and PC-9s; Thailand returned with F-16s, and @TheRSAF brought F-16s, KC-135, and E-2C
2012: A year of many firsts! @_TNIAU debuted with Sukhoi Flankers, and @RSAF brought its F-15SG Eagles and G-550 Airborne Early Warning jets for the first time
2012: Not to be left out, #AusAirForce introduced its Super Hornets and KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport to Exercise Pitch Black
2012: Elsewhere, the @USMC came with its F/A-18s, and Thailand returned with F-16s. #AusAirForce C-130Hs participated for the last time.
2014: A big development in Exercise Pitch Black for the #AusAirForce with the introduction of the E-7A Wedgetail to the exercise – our very own Airborne Early Warning and Control capability.
2014: Other newcomers included United Arab Emirates Air Force with Mirage 2000-9s and A-330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport, and the JAS-39 Gripens from the Royal Thai Air Force.
2014: The New Caledonian Armed Forces too sent a CASA CN-235 transport for the first time, providing air mobility and a variety of role-playing functions in exercise scenarios.
2014: @USMC F/A-18s, @TheRSAF F-16s, F-15SGs, KC-135 and G-550s rounded out the international participants in the air, with @NZAirForce providing combat support on the ground.
2014: Our participation included F/A-18 Classic and Super Hornets, along with KC-30A, King Air and C-130J.
2016: @RCAF_ARC CC-130T Hercules came from Canada for the exercise, while @_TNIAU returned – this time with F-16s.
2016: #AusAirForce introduced our Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in the exercise from RAAF Base Tindal, whilst the C-17A Globemaster participated in exercise missions for the very first time.
2016: Germany and the Netherlands sent personnel to work alongside Australian Fighter Controllers and Air Battlespace Managers in the exercise
2016: Also participating were Thailand F-16s, @TheRSAF F-15SGs, F-16C and Ds, G-550 and KC-135, New Caledonia Armed Forces CN-235, and @USAirForce F-16Cs
