No aalim, mufti, pir, shaykh, ustadh, mother, father, sibling, friend or anyone else comes before the prophet ﷺ
If a scholar or anyone says something out of line when it comes to the prophet ﷺ there should be no issue in “cancelling” that individual till he or she cancels their deviance.

Real scholars know the etiquettes and guidelines of refutation and debate and scholars decide what is out of line. Not layman and their emotions/theories.

Nobody has a bigger following than the prophet ﷺ and nobody has benefitted others the way he has ﷺ.

Once a panel of scholars have gone through all the prerequisites and gave a verdict such and such a person has insulted the ﷲ, the prophet ﷺ or gone against the orthodox way.
The job of the layman is just to accept that verdict and move on.

May ﷲ protect my own teachers from such tribulations but if it came down to it & they went against the sunni path. I would have absolutely no issue speaking against any of them & leaving them.
That’s the confidence and certainty we all need to be given by our ulema, we shouldn’t be stuck in a cultish mindset and believe the shaykh is the be all and end all.
