I had a Nuss procedure done in 2013 (corrective surgery for pectus excavatum), which in the US costs between $40 000 and $65 000.

Guess what it cost us here?
I was 14 at the time, and it was all free. To top it off, the hospital they had me in was a 2h30min drive away, so we got gas money covered as well. We got paid too much for the gas though, so we technically made about $20 off of me getting a surgery worth over $40k.
The US is truly delusional when it comes to actually taking care of their people.
