it's v hard to extricate this song from the era it's singing about. it's an elegy.this was on a Reddit years ago and it's stuck with me, and this is very much what Being Boring's about

but there's also a key universality. looking back at yr youth, no matter what it was, & appreciating a time when you thought maybe nothing could go wrong, that you and your friends would be different. simply appreciating the joy of being young & not being boring.

anyhow, one of my favorite songs. if it doesn't fall to the KLF, it likely will get crushed by Tribe Called Quest or something else, but glad it made it this far.
