I am an elected official in a small town trying to figure out how to run the primary election to maximize people being able to 1. vote 2. vote safely.
Just made a motion to allow us to run the absentee ballots through the tabulator early (without releasing the count).

Concerns:
- Can't take over parking lot b/c the tire company needs access (also can't block USPS mailbox)
- Accessible machine NEEDS to be inside b/c of hand-wavey reasons having to do with power cords
- Checkpoint for asking questions & sanitizing rules make inside a PITA...

- We'll need tents; largest tent company is also owned by a Selectman
- We have roughly $1100 to do what we need to do
- We have same-day registration (yay) but it's another use-case
Honestly it's mostly logistical, our local Army vet will likely handle it all, she's great.

Aggravated that because of logistical "hassle" of doing something differently, the town clerk (a wonderful person, doing a tough job) has decided we'll be voting in the Town Hall basement after all. I agreed to work the polls but will be on parking lot detail, masked & outside.
Me and another (Republican!) JP griped about this and now there will be one outdoor voting station and people can vote in their car. I get to staff it ("You want that? YOU do it.") but that is OK with me.
