I belatedly heard about the @RichmondPolice/JJ Minor Libby Hill press conference and rushed over to see what was up. I actually missed the event but was aggressively approached by Deputy Chief John O'Kleasky who repeatedly asked "You wanna talk, Jimmie? You wanna talk?"
Somebody else stepped in to speak with O'Kleasky, so I patiently waited for them to finish. When they finished up, I asked O'Kleasky what he wanted to talk about. He kept walking past me. I said "I thought you wanted to talk to me, John."
While walking away, he said "I don't want to talk to you. I thought you wanted an interview, since you're supposedly a journalist." Y'all know I actively resist being described as such. I told him "I'm a private citizen, but are you making yourself available for an interview?"
He says, "No, because you're not a journalist."

I respond, "What's the difference? There's no special legal rights for press."

He says, "Yeah right!"

I ask, "Is there a law I don't know about? Please tell me if you know something I don't, I'm happy to be corrected."
At this point, O'Kleasky spins around and spits out, "Do you even HAVE a job?"

Taken aback, I responded, "Yes, I do!"

"Oh, yeah? Where do YOU work?" he sneers.

I say, "That's not your business.

He throws his hands in the air and shouts "Whatever. Have a nice night."
I was in a public park, interested in hearing what @RichmondPolice had to say. I hadn't been there for more than a minute, or said anything to anyone before being harassed by name and insulted by the Deputy Chief, who I've never met before in my life. Serve and protect, baby!
