State -> Story -> Strategy (excerpt from Tools of Titans; Tony Robbins)

My understanding: you can't solve a problem optimally in a state of irritation or to be more clear, resistance (the war of art) , However Resistance can take multiple forms

A thread
They can also be referred to as the Hindrances to Self mastery (Shi Heng Yi; TedxVitosha)
And they are five categories

- Kamacchanda (Sensual Desire):
Basically not all that feels good is good, indulging your senses can sometimes reduce your self awareness and ability to think
This sometimes manifests as addictions, many of which (like porn, anime, weed) feel so good and have no glaring effect on your effectiveness till you study the compound effect, all 5 senses can be subject to becoming resistance
- Byapada(ill will/aversion)
This is where rage, jealousy, envy, overzealousness and other emotional reactions focused on someone else hinders you performance
- Thinamiddha (Dullness of mind/Heaviness of body)
This is the part that reminds you that you need to sleep even though you woke up just an hour ago and this is the most easily overlooked

Dullness of the mind also refers to depression, boredom, lack of motivation
UddHacca (Restlessness)
Usually stems from having too many expectations from yourself

and is majorly trying to do so many things at once that you don't do any, this is the effect of an obsession with the self development mafia and trying to know everything
Vicikiccha (sceptical doubt)

This is disconnection from your drive And sense of purpose and can be attributed to Cynicism and a belief that everything is meaningless caused by over analyzing everything in both your circle of control and circle of influence
Therefore making yourself overly sensitive and reactive to circumstances beyond and within your control rather than proactive
How do you Avoid these hindrances? You can't, You're Human not AI, these Hindrances are unique to humans who possess the ability to reflect on the past with memory and invent/picture the future with imagination
So what?
So here's what you can do, Change your state is what Tony Robbins says but to master the ability to change your state in a moment takes years and years of practice and mindfulness to be able to sense even the slightest change in emotional
Here's what weaklings like me should do:
Calm the storm but let it Rain.

Calm the storm means by the time you notice it and hopefully it isn't too late, take a deep fucking breath and be still
Let it Rain means
- Recognise the type of emotion or resistance or hindrance you're facing, the likelihood is you can't figure it out just by think about it, put pen to paper and diagnose yourself
Acknowledge and allow yourself to feel that emotion but don't that bs that identifies yourself with an emotion
"I'm usually like this around 5" or any other of that bs
Ask QUESTIONS
Why is this here? What triggered this? (Usually for Kamacchanda it's a starve for Dopamine
What line of thought led to this emotion?
Write all your answers down, don't over analyse just put pen to paper and pour out whatever comes

And lastly
Separate yourself from your circumstances and emotions
Your mind and the mind are not the same thing

Tell yourself a story about the situation that empowers you, puts you in charge, gives you control of you state, not the one that makes you the victim of circumstances
After you have successfully changed your state, right then you're in optimal state for strategizing and taking the next step
