The longer your Shopify store takes to load, the LOWER your conversion rate.

The longer you put off optimizing your site for speed, the more customers you'll lose to a faster competitor's site.

Here's 6 immediate actionable ways to improve your page speed.

THREAD
Page speed is the time it takes content on a URL to load.

Site speed shows how your site is performing overall.

1. Uninstall all unused apps.

Don't let apps sit, don't use multiple apps when one app could solve your problem. Even a disabled or deleted app could leave bloated code behind.

As soon as I install a new app, I create a 30 day reminder to check if I'm still using it.
2. OPTIMIZE your images

Before uploading any image, run it through a free image compressor like http://tinyjpg.com  OR find a Shopify app that does this for you. ( https://apps.shopify.com/crush-pics )

It strips away unnecessary data in every image, resulting in much smaller file sizes
3. Organize your tracking with Google Tag Manager

All these Javascript tracking tags (Facebook and Snap pixel, Google analytics) that collect data could slow down your site.

Using Google Tag Manager, will help consolidate this.
4. STOP using carousels and sliders

They don't convert AND they slow down your site.

Users DO NOT click on sliders

Sliders are NOT good for mobile

Use hero image/layouts instead with clear call to actions.
5. Minimize redirects and broken links

Unnecessary redirects create performance + speed issues which could directly affect your overall load time.

In Shopify you could apply 301 redirects by
going to Online Store > Navigation
Click URL Redirects

Click Add a URL redirect
Broken links could increase unnecessary HTTP requests and create a poor user experience.

To find and fix broken links across your website, you can use free tools like

6. Lazy/no time? Outsource to Upwork

Submit a job post, vet the applicants, hire one, and get your site speed fixed in less than a week.

If there's interest in seeing my process for that I could create a thread on how we hire freelancers
