I really respect your work but I do not think this a fair take on fascism or fascist historiography...I mean most historians of fascism do not work with this ideal type or with ideal types in general...Fascism was many things at the different times: ideology, movement, regime... https://twitter.com/DavidAvromBell/status/1288113378741776384
Fascism was a global experience in the 1920/30s (WWI was important & had deep impact) in different ways across continents but fascist ideas emerged in India, China, Argentina or Brazil at same time & with key national distinctions...fascism continued to be reformulated after 1945
for example, it was key ideological foundation for the Argentine Dirty War...as I explored it in one of my books...other colleagues work on fascism after 1945 in Japan, Italy, France or Brazil...so the question is what is so special about US
that historians that do not work on fascism in US or elsewhere are so keen on stressing...
Historians of fascism see connections between fascism & present and American history is not exceptional for them: Paxton, Sternhell, @ruthbenghiat @odiloncaldeira @Andrea_Mammone & @Notorious_RSG many others..this does not mean Trump or Bolsonaro are fascists but they are close
