Transcript of a disgusting conversation bw 3 men who created & shaped a tremendous amount of American popular culture that reveals quite a bit about how they regard women. Hoping you can access comments & not preview text this way. CW rape, child abuse.

Now think about how much of those attitudes have seeped into our cultural consciousness through the movies that these men made, and the spinoffs of the things that they made, and so forth. Think about how much is needed to extract those attitudes from our brains.
Think about WHY IT MATTERS that we have writers and directors and artists and content creators who are coming from diverse viewpoints, why a world where cis white men constantly reinforce each other's toxic ideas and refuse to interrogate their own power is bad for everyone.
Yes, sure, there's room for good cis white men in the future, too. But we need other voices to be dominant voices also, and every project needs to have a lot of different voices. That conversation wouldn't have gone that way if there had been a woman in the room.
So many TV writers' rooms are all white. So many films are helmed by an all-white creative team, so many men trying to write women, so many able-bodied people trying to write disabled characters, just... enough.
It's not (always) obvious. That's what makes it so insidious. https://mobile.twitter.com/MeTooIDissent/status/1288193180165443584
