1. I've been monitoring right-wing media conspiracy theories at @mmfa for a decade. It can be hard to tell whether things are actually getting worse -- a decade ago, Glenn Beck was on Fox.

On Thursday, OAN aired a segment Thursday defending as “widely accepted” and “the new mainstream” the QAnon movement, whose adherents claim Trump is fighting a global cabal of politicians and celebrities who run a child sex trafficking ring. https://www.mediamatters.org/one-america-news-network/pro-trump-oan-attacks-bans-new-mainstream-qanon-deep-state-appears-be
4. Friday: Fox hosts Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld name Mike Cernovich -- a far-right troll who has trumpeted the “Pizzagate” theory that Democratic pedophiles were trafficking and sexually abusing children in a Washington, D.C., pizzeria -- as their favorite follow on Twitter.
6. And on Monday, a hyper-viral Breitbart video featuring the claim that “you don't need masks” to fight the spread of the coronavirus because HCQ is “a cure,” and the numerous studies showing the drug is ineffective are ” fake science" sponsored by "fake pharma companies.”
7. The pediatrician featured in the video has made claims about the medical impacts of alien DNA and demon sex. The video was shared by the president of the United States. Twice.
8. That is a very bad week! It speaks to the incredible demand on the right for these sorts of insane conspiracy theories, and the way right-wing media figures are immersed in them and willing to fulfill that demand.
