A lot of responses to this are expressing some naive, but commonly held perceptions about science. How can science be racist if it is just a method that can only identify objective results?

I find these passages from Not in Our Genes clarifies a lot. https://twitter.com/AntiRacist_Sci/status/1287801983773048832
This toy version of science imagines a formulaic method that rejects and accepts claims on a strict falsification, but this is far from the actual functioning of science. This ignores the role that social context play in the practice of science
When we acknowledge this we understand that accepted science at any point is not just the result of the method of science but also the social forces. It's misplaced to call the best, accepted science of the past as simply bad science distinct from the current good science.
Changing those social determinants is part of the scientific process. Changing norms, scrutinizing suspect work, and addressing biases are all part of the scientific process. Trying to stop that by insisting on objectivity of science hinders scientific progress more than anything
