Still, I don't think DC is going to learn anything from Watchmen, which makes me sad.
Because what it should be doing is sifting through old Vertigo with a fine-toothed comb to see what else it should be bringing to the forefront. Instead, it will bleed Sandman and Watchmen and the Fourth World to death.
Which, listen, there is still life left in those properties, but you cannot hammer away at the same three IP for high-brow cred forever. Why are you not bringing Paul Pope's 100% to HBO as a series? Or Hitman?
As for comics, why not once again court creators by presenting them with the opportunity to bring new IP to your doorstep? Let them own their babies and ask for first look or a cut.
DC is in a slightly better position than Marvel in that it has work and old imprints that are already seen as high brow (for comics, anyway), which makes it easier to push mature projects in other media. Marvel has to work to overcome a "zap-pow" stereotype.
And instead of taking full advantage of that reputation by exploring ALL of its IP (and scouting for more), DC pinches from its established heavy-hitters and calls it a day.

So much money being left on the table that it sickens me.
Anyway, I have 30 days to pack and move a whole house worth of furniture, so I can't be here messing around with Warner Brothers.
