Man the fact that Karachi is what it is, despite the political, bureaucratic, & military establishment fucking it over for decades, is one serious testament to the absolute dheetness of its people.
I'm not sure resilience is the right word - maybe it is - but it's like Karachi will just keep dragging itself into the future no matter what happens. Little spouts of happiness amidst what really, actually, is a very depressing 'physical' city
I moved here in 2015 having spent a decade each in Lahore/Isb, & 5 years in Peshawar & honestly the life that emanates from this city is something else. Karachiites - & they have their flaws 100% - are just a different breed. Despite the city being full of so many from within Pak
At some point tho you see why karachiites are who they are cause that ruthlessness will cut through as well. You need it to survive in a city where you're faced with trauma every single fucking day. Nothing in this city facilitates a good life.
You have to conjure joy up physically, with your own hands. But probably mentally, more. There's no way not to. My own mental strength has leaped in bounds, but in a way that's not exact great either is it, cause you just run through trauma instead of processing it
Basically, I fucking love Karachi and I really, really, love Karachiites. And it's absolutely fucking despicable that the city and it's inhabitants have been treated the way they have been for decades.
It's like karachiites keep polishing the turd and doing a fucking great job of it but then someone in power will just add to the turd pile & at this point that pile of shit is really getting to be too fucking much for everyone in this city
