I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again - the things that people talk, preach, write about most are the things they struggle with or have dealt with in their life.
So I’ll use myself as an example. Why do I talk so much about love - self love, self worth, etc? Because I’ve struggled with it.

Why do I talk about grace and curiosity rather than judgement? Because I used to be hella judgemental.
Listen closely to your favorite writers and speakers. You will recognize themes in their work. And these theme point you to their inner struggles and desires.
Now here’s the thing - those of us who have done the work to deconstruct and dismantle that which is oppressive and life-taking in our lives will talk about these things with an invitation to liberation.
We won’t talk about the things we’ve struggled with and invite you to stay in bondage or demonize the struggle. We will be honest about our struggles and invite you to another way - one marked with compassion, and in invitation to expand your thinking.
Those who have not done this work and are still captive to the struggle will try to convince you that the only way to overcome is to dig your heels in and try to control the situation, by any means necessary.
This is how you know someone is still in bondage to their struggle and that they aren’t living their most authentic life.
Listen and watch with an air of curiosity. You have the power to discern and understand. You don’t have to believe everything just because someone says something - even me! Nurture you inner wisdom and your own discernment. You’ll be better off for it. I promise.
