This is a thread about In Machines We Trust, our new podcast about artificial intelligence, algorithms, and what happens when everything around us gets automated. https://megaphone.link/MIT3617726004
Today, algorithms decide who receives social services, who goes to jail, who gets into college, who qualifies for loans, and who lands a job.
Today, we also look to artificial intelligence to read and interpret our emotions, determining whether we’re happy, sad, angry, distracted… or even a threat.
We’re entrusting artificial intelligence with our most sensitive decisions. This podcast, In Machines We Trust, will look at what that means in the real world—and how it affects you, as listeners and as people.
We’re kicking things off with a four-part series on facial recognition and policing. We’ll meet people building this technology, fighting against it, and trying to regulate how it gets used.
