Women are going to take charge and get things done whether you like it or not. We really just need you to sit quietly and assist where directed.
Like, admittedly, ex., if a website breaks, I don't know how to fix that. I'm 100% going to ask you to help me. What I don't need is for you to hear an idea I had, tell me it won't work, then suddenly decide it's a great idea as long as you get credit/to be in charge.
If you've ever wondered why a woman on your team doesn't ever get to lead/manage/be the one with all the good ideas, what you're really seeing is a woman who has tried to do all these things and has been denied her right every single time.
So when she does get to be in charge, and puts you in your place by giving you a specific task she knows you're good at because she pays attention and cares, it's because she's a good leader and deserves to get to do that more.
We're tired of this. All of us. If you ever look at us and you're like, "Why do they all look so tired?" This is why. We have to fight every day just to be able to sit in the room where it happens. When do we get to call the shots though?
I work with a bunch of dudes - love y'all - and 99.9% of them I DO NOT DESERVE because they're just Good Dudes. But that 0.01% drains all the life out of you, I promise.
Let us speak.
Listen to our ideas.
Work with us.
Don't just invite us into the room.
Don't make us fight so hard.
That's all we want. Really.
We want to work with you and learn with you and grow with you. BUT WE CAN'T DO THAT IF YOU DON'T LET US, ya know?
Instead of fighting us every step of the way, just give us some room. This doesn't have to be so difficult.
I'm tired 🙃
I left a female-dominated field (dietetics) and went into online publishing knowing I was going to have to fight battles I wasn't used to fighting.

But I never thought it would get increasingly more difficult the more I grew as a professional.
It's unacceptable that women with graduate degrees and 1000+-article portfolios and EXPERIENCE are suddenly only qualified for entry-level editorial positions as long as there are men present. It should not be like this.
