1. Heading into summer, how many of us had Aarons on a shortlist of realistic potential transfers at RB who "checked the boxes" and met all of our needs?
2. How many of us didn't have him on the radar at all and first considered him as an option when his name came up yesterday?

What I was getting at yesterday (and today, apparently) is that if a player is an "ideal transfer target" that should be the case pre-transfer window AND in the middle of it once things started to change. If you were ahead of the curve and were saying back in March or April...
...that Aarons was a great potential option for us at RB (and saying the "why"), then awesome. Good eye from you, props.
But if back in March, April, etc your ideal targets were Dest or Dodo or Semedo and so on and NOW suddenly you've forgotten about them for favor of Aarons...

...then like I said, it's probably not a matter of assessing your "ideal transfers" but rather just getting excited about the shiny new thing. In short: if he wasn't an "ideal target" 3-4 months ago, he probably shouldn't be considered an "ideal target" right now, either.
And of course that's not to specifically target Aarons or any one user. Just an example that's fresh in the mind. Same is true for many players and the way we pivot from one "ideal" to another in the span of just weeks. But it is what it is I guess.
