Just called parents back home in China, in tier 2 city. Said local 居委会 started to ask residents to prepare possible war between China and the US, such as tape the windows in case of bombs, store enough food, etc......
居委会 on the move to them means shit is getting very real. Mom joked that as a generation born in the 50s, the only kind of turmoil they’ve missed in their life is an actual war.
When I assured them that there is nothing to worry about living in a major inland city, they thought I was “brainwashed” reading Eng news....local gov warning much more convincing than me. Then they asked: “what’s the deal with Trump?” I was like.....let’s talk abt something else
Though I have to say I’m not sure WTF is happening in their residential area. Among all my friends, they are the first to report such gov warning. So I won’t read too much into it.
