I took a year-long sabbatical from content marketing in 2019. Six weeks since I'm back, and I'm noticing some big trends emerging in 2020.

Here’s what I’ve observed so far:

(Thread)
1. Most companies that were furiously blogging have now shifted their efforts to podcasting. As someone who doesn’t enjoy audio content very much, I’m curious to know more about this trend.
2. Even though their popularity has dipped, blogs, link building, and SEO are still a part of content marketing chatter.

3. TikTok and IGTV are the new shiny toys for marketers, mainly B2C and ecommerce. YouTube videos have taken a backseat.
4. Personal newsletters, brands, and blogs are all over the place. Whether you’re an engineer, writer, salesperson, or creator of any kind, now is a better time than ever to grow a personal following.
5. Old habits die hard, though. B2B companies are still (sadly) posting cookie-cutter content on social media, mainly links to their blog.
6. On a positive note, companies are waking up to their social responsibilities and making it a major part of their marketing too. The Facebook boycott is a great beginning. Let's see how long that lasts though.

Am I missing any important developments in #contentmarketing?
