Jack Grealish vs James Maddison vs Mason Mount - Premier League 19/20 - A *Long* Data Viz Analysis thread

RTs appreciated :) Comments welcome
When the Premier League season kick started back in August 2019, I assume everybody's eyes were on three English Players,
- Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)
- James Maddison (Leicester City)
- Mason Mount (Chelsea)
I have always loved all these three players. So I decided to find out how each of these players fared in the season that just concluded. Before we go into graphs & metrics, lets have a look at their basic profile
Jack Grealish

Grealish started his career at the Aston Villa academy and featured in the Villa side that finished bottom of the Premier League table in 15/16. He struck with them during their championship years helping them to secure the promotion to the premier league in 18/19.
Jack Grealish - 2019/20:
Age: 24
Position: LW / CAM / CM
Minutes Played: 3233
Appearances: 36
Goals: 8
Assists: 6
James Maddsion:

Maddison started his career at the Coventry City academy. He moved to Leicester City from Norwich city in 2018. This season was supposed to be the season where Maddison takes a step further in securing his move to a bigger club.
Fair enough to him and his club, both did well to continue the journey together for another year (may be)
James Maddison - 2019/20
Age: 23
Position: CAM / CM
Minutes Played: 2624
Appearances: 31
Goals: 6
Assists: 3
Mason Mount:

Mount started his career at the Chelsea Academy. After having a loan stint with Vitesse (like most Chelsea players have) in 17/18, Mount spent 18/19 under Lampard at Derby County and caught the eye of everyone during their failed push for promotion to the PL.
Mason Mount - 2019/20
Age: 21
Position: LW / CAM / CM
Minutes Played: 2867
Appearances: 37
Goals: 7
Assists: 5
Attacking profile:

Of the three players, Grealish has the most goals + assists p90 (0.39). However, there is not much to seperate the three with Mount(0.38) & Maddsion(0.31) only just behind. Having said that, the team style and the players around also play a factor in this.
Villa are over reliant on Grealish for goals unlike Mount & Maddison at their respective teams. Grealish has contributed to 34.1% of Villa's goals with Mount & Maddison contributing to only 17.3% & 13.43% respectively. Grealish has also played more minutes than the other two.
Goal contributions = G + A

Where are they placed in the league for G+A per 90?
Shooting

Mason Mount takes shots more frequently than the other two(2.45 shots p90). However,Grealish has a better SoT to goal conversion rate(0.36 G/SoT). Although, Grealish's SoT% of 30.6 is below par when you compare him with the best players in the league for the category.
The same can be said for James Maddison who has taken a high volume of shots, but just like Grealish, Maddison is not the one for conversion.
Creativity & influence on the pitch

Grealish has 5.12 shot creating actions p90, which is comfortably more than Mount (3.61) but not more than Maddison at 5.76 ( 3rd in league standings for this metric & 10th in 'Big 5 european leagues'- even though he has played fewer games....
than a lot of other players). If we take a look at the touches in the attacking third, Maddison has more touches p90(30) than Grealish(29.1) & Mount(28.1). This is quite a surpise when you realish that Grealish has played more at LW than Maddison who has played more centrally.
In terms of Goal Creating Actions, Mason Mount produces more Goal Creating actions(0.50) than Grealish(0.42) & Maddison(0.41) per 90 minutes but the Aston Villa man produces more GCA from Live passes.
When it comes to dribbling ability, Grealish dribbles more often of the three and is also more successful than the other two. This is also one of the reasons that Grealish gets fouled more often than the others.
Passing & Ball Progression

Grealish has covered the most Prog. Distance in the Premier League this season, miles ahead of Mount & Maddison. When it comes ball carries p90, Grealish ranks in the 75th percentile with 44.04 carries per 90, behind Maddison who ranks.......
in the 83rd percentile with 49.9 carries p90.Maddison has made the most progressive passes out of the three as well, with 8.16 passes p90, followed by Grealish with 6.21 progressive passess p90.
Mason Mount is known for his short passing, he has infact completed 1.57 short passes p90(ranks 3rd among midfielders & forwards- Min. 900 minutes)
Maddison has the most successful pressures among the three, but it is probably because of the way Leicester set up. They rank 2nd for most succ. pressures and 6th for pressures applied. So no surprises there.
Mason Mount like Maddison is among the best for pressures and succ. pressures in the league this season. He is also top of the table for the same among Chelsea players.
Conclusion:

All three players are closely matched in most of the metrics. But I personally feel, Maddison is more creative than the other two. But Grealish & Mount are very versatile in their roles, and could do any job asked of them.
