A follower (I forget who, sorry đŸ˜„) pointed out that the UK's agreement with Huawei to build a whole inspection center just to certify Huawei's kit was just the kind of creatively technocratic trustbuilding solution Yuan's talking about here. The fundamental issue is the system in which Huawei operates. Trust cannot be present if the Party can simply subvert the people whose job it is to ensure compliance with regulatory and technical trustbuilding measures.

But the solutions we propose to the problems posed by PRC tech companies significant presence in US networks and society have to account for the reality of the CCP, in a patient, risk-based, even-handed way. https://twitter.com/YuanfenYang/status/1288065160154714114?s=20
