ZOUMA - STANDS OUT FROM THE REST OF CFC CBs

In the beginning, he was part of a great combination with Tomori. Then he was unfairly dropped for the experienced Rudi. However, he finished the season as the strongest defender as he replaced AC.

Let's recap his Wolves' match..

1/8
Dominated Jimenez:

Anytime Wolves thought they were away with Jimenez, Zouma was there for the cover defense. His recovery pace is immense. The way he cuts off Jimenez in this play was superb.

Completely nullifying a big threat!

2/8
Anticipation & Positioning:

At times we played a high line to press Wolves a lot more. However, this gave Wolves the opportunity to play direct and behind our defenders to Jota and Jimenez.

Zouma was consistently alert to this. A crucial interception in this play!

3/8
Clutch Defending:

This is where 3 ATB helps out massively. Rudi puts in a big tackle but the ball goes directly to Jimenez who releases the WB.

Rudi was big-time saved here by Zouma with some clutch defending. Wolves were circling the box but Zouma shut it all off!!

4/8
Reading The Play:

Once again a dangerous situation opens up at the wings for Wolves. However, Zouma reads the play well and makes an important clearance.

Commanding the box like a leader!

5/8
Aerial Dominance:

Zouma is phenomenal in the air. He towers over everyone. He is definitely a component needed for next season to rectify our set-piece defending issues. Just needs a solid partner with him.

Look how he rushes to close down the shot as well!

6/8
Blocking shots:

This has been an issue for us at times as we have allowed the opposition to take long punts. Zouma most times does not shy away from such situations and steps up to close the shot down.

That's leadership courage!

7/8
Strength:

His sheer size, majority of the time dominates the opposition. He out muscles the opposition player and they are simply no chance against him in the air.

Zouma undoubtedly finished the season as our standout defender and someone we can rely on next season.
