This has been one of the strangest weeks in travel and aviation since the start of #COVID19 here in Europe, and I don't think anyone is coming off well out of it: not airlines, not the tourism industry, not governments, not passengers, and not public health.
There HAS to be a middle ground between airlines and tourism operators spreading COVID-19 across Europe like the clap in Magaluf, and individual governments U-turning about quarantines like boy racers pulling donuts in a shopping centre car park.
There HAS to be some sort of way to vacation responsibly during #COVID19, that's for certain: for the mental health of people in cities in particular but for all of us really, to avoid losing key travel and accommodation providers, to keep critical infrastructure in place.
But it can't be swimming pools full of patient zeros in St Tropez. It can't be the utter nonsense of the UK's Spanish Farce quarantine. It can't be airlines (and particularly airline trade bodies) decrying any restrictions. It can't be municipalities having to close beaches.
I don't know what the answer is, but we need to find it. We need to find it together, in a coordinated, science-led way, which is a hard ask at the best of times.

Otherwise, we're going to end up back in March, nearly five months later, which is just depressing.
