I’m planning another ‘wtf is digital doing to us’ flavoured talk, this time around how the massive shift to using digital tools during lockdown has impacted on self-esteem / mental health. 1/5
I’ve always been pretty comfortable in my skin (despite the occasional bout of excoriation i.e. picking at my face until I make a mess, which I’ve done since my teens) but during lockdown I find I’ve become hyper-critical of myself.

But then I’d never spent my working day looking in a mirror, which is what happens on video calls; and whether I’m spending more time online or there are more bored people posting face-tuned and filtered selfies, everyone seems to look more perfect... 3/5
...when you’re not out in the real world seeing the full gamut of humanity. It seems to bother women more than men but I’m happy to be corrected - though you don’t often see men posting pics with dog noses and smoothed out features etc. 4/5
So - if you’ve got an opinion, want to add something, challenge me, and generally make my talk better, hit me up and we’ll chat! 5/5
