Just found out @kenearlys thinks of David Silva along the same lines that I think of Paul Scholes. I guess the consolation is that he also thinks of Paul Scholes along those same lines too.
I think David Silva's never been the best standout player in any particular season, so I agree with Ken Early there, but what he's done over the course of 10 years, not just in terms of his creative numbers, but the way he's played the game with such ease and panache, is amazing.
Yaya had much better individual seasons. Same for Hazard, Salah, Ozil, De Bruyne etc. But don't think any of them have been on a world class level for most of the time during a 10 year period. And that's what has separated Silva from the rest in a way.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about (it's behind a paywall but reading the replies a few excerpts has given me the main gist): https://twitter.com/kenearlys/status/1287678362408882176?s=19
Also, I don't think you can put him in even the 10 greatest players who have played in the Premier League, but if you had to pick a player for the last decade who's been present and magical throughout, it's David Silva. And that has coincided with City's rise to success.
Or even top 15 or 20 for that matter.
