As someone who came up at the decline of 2nd gen kpop I knew NCT was gonna be a wild ride. SM has been trying for years to make a boy group that won’t fall apart with line up changes.
Elfs were up in arms about new memeber.
TXVQ lost half their damn group
do I have to discuss EXO?

NCT was always an attempt to overload the fandom with a enough idols that they wouldn’t mind if one disappeared or broke their contract from mistreatment-
Because there are still 300 other men to take the fandoms attention. It’s a dumb plan fandom wise cause now we have 12 mini fandoms on Ncity and all of them are upset but brand wise it’s brilliant.
When y’all say “SM doesn’t know how to utilize their unit system” you’re wrong. They know that they can put entire units on the back burner while building the NCT brand. They can disappear memebers with no explanation and they can keep a handful of familiar faces in every group-
To make all the units feel familiar. They know what their up to.

The worst part is that takes power away from the idols. Former TVXQ memebers were famous enough in their own right to sustain careers afterwards. Former EXO memebers are doing just fine because they built-
Solid fan bases that followed them when they left. It’s a lot harder for NCT memebers to do that when we don’t see Dream for over half the year or Winwin gets shuffled to the back of any units he’s in. The fact that NCT’s concept makes it easier to “replace” or “lose” memebers-
Also means it’s harder for all the memebers to have solid personal fan bases. It’s actually terrifying when you remember SM’s history with physical mistreatment alone.
