The thing is, I’m just not convinced that there’s any amount of class size restriction or social distancing or masking that is going to do the job that needs doing. If you’re sitting in a classroom with one person with COVID, all the way across the room, both masked, for 8 hours?
Daycares and schools and piling in at Gramma’s and going to work with Mom are all equally bad options in this regard and the ONLY decent solution is an immediate large check to every person living in the USA, automatic rent and utility relief, and a 4-week hard shutdown.
During the hard shutdown, EXTENSIVE and CENTRALIZED contact tracing and testing protocols need to be set up and thousands upon thousands of aides need to be hired and background-checked. We press into service all government conference rooms, rec centers, and church basements.
We make sure all those extra rooms are wired and then we turn them into remote classrooms with no more than 10 kids in each, in family units if possible, where the kids can have supervised mobile instruction IF they are unable to get that instruction at home for w/e reason.
OR LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE IDGAF JUST SOMEONE DO A PLAN THAT ISN’T “PUT ALL THE PEOPLE INTO ROOMS WHEN THE VIRUS IS E V E R Y W H E R E”
