Seems like every time a new Muppet video is posted a majority of the complaints are about Matt Vogel's Kermit voice and saying it's "Not Kermit."
Little do people remember that fans were saying the exact same thing about Steve Whitmire's Kermit throughout the 90s and 2000s.(1/7)

I remember seeing a comment on a Muppets 2011 promo video where someone commented "That's not Kermit. Kermit died with Jim Henson." (2/7)
The truth is, nobody is able to fully recreate Jim Henson's Kermit. Steve couldn't and Matt can't, but they can still perform Kermit, just a different Kermit. Both are still heavily inspired and build off of what Jim did, but they build on it, making the character their own.(3/7)
That's necessary for the character to live on. Either things change, or the character dies with the original actor. (4/7)
Sure, Steve had to forcefully leave the role, but he wasn't going to live forever, eventually, someone had to take over, it's just in this case it happened earlier than any of us were expecting. (5/7)
Kermit is far from the first character who has changed actors, Bret Iwan's Mickey doesn't sound like Wayne Allwine's, but then again, Wayne Allwine doesn't sound exactly like Walt Disney. I much rather these characters live on then have them remain silent forever.(6/7)
Join me again decades later, when Kermit has once again changed hands (pun very intended), and I'll be having this exact same exchange when people complain the new Kermit doesn't sound like Matt Vogel. (7/7)
