The Jedi fear the ego. They try to squash it, cut it off, remove it wholesale. That's why they're celebate. The Sith worship ego as God. They lust for it, and fall into Merlin's folly: worshipping oneself as more powerful than they really are.

The Grey jedi neither fear the ego nor lust after it. They are okay with emotions and romance in a way the Jedi are not. This is the ego free of shackle. But they also don't worship it as the Sith. To be a Jedi is to awaken, and to awaken is to know Satan is ego mistaking itself

For God. This difference from the Sith's egoic worship is therefore infinite in distance. The dialectic of good vs evil remains, because white magic is the magic of awakening, and the dark magic is the magic of delusion. The Grey Jedi is nothing like the Sith isnofar they awaken

And thus thrust their lightsaber eternally into the delusion of identification of ego as The Force.
