1. Tonight, the Democratic Platform Committee completed its work on the 2020 platform. It was a great honor to serve on the committee and help assemble an outstanding platform that conveys what Democrats stand for & what we will do. I worked especially on Middle East provisions.
2. The section on Israel/Palestine always gets a lot of attention. And what emerged is a platform that sounds like @JoeBiden: committed to Israel's security and legitimacy; to US military assistance; to a two-state solution including Palestinians' right to a state;...
3. ...to opposing unilateral steps by either side, including annexation, that undermine prospects of 2 states; to standing against incitement & terror; to opposing settlement expansion; to restoring diplomatic ties with Palestinians & assistance to the Palestinian people; & more.

5. We're a diverse party, and many views are heard, but Democrats are unified around these principles. We are also unified around reversing the major damage Trump has done to prospects for two states. For that alone, we need a new president.
6. But there is so much more. The entire platform lays out Democrats' approach to COVID-19 protection and recovery; building a stronger, fairer economy; expanding health care; criminal justice reform; combating climate change; restoring the health of our democracy;...
7. ...immigration; education; and renewing America's leadership abroad. In the words of DNC Chairman @TomPerez, it is an "aspirational, inspirational" document, that shows us the best America we can be, and with @joebiden's leadership we will strive to be.

9. It is also a stinging indictment of Trump's failures, on issue after issue. We are so much worse off, unprotected from the pandemic, jobless, divided, disrespected in the world, seeing our institutions corrupted, than we should be because of this disastrous presidency.
10. So @TheDemocrats are united in two ways; around @JoeBiden, a decent, empathetic, highly competent candidate with an inspiring program, and to ensure that we bring our current nightmare to an end with a resounding defeat of Trump on November 3.
11. One of the things I love about Democratic politics was on display at today's Platform Committee meeting: our beautiful diversity, one of our country's greatest strengths. When you walk into a room like that, you say, "Wow, we're all here."
12. Black, White, Latinx with origins across the hemisphere, LGBTQ+, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, AAPI, Native Americans, immigrants from every continent, women, men, youth, seniors, people with disabilities, and more. It's an incredibly beautiful thing.
13. My thanks to @tomperez for appointing me to the Committee, and my compliments to the co-chairs, @DenisMcDonough and Julie Chavez Rodriguez for their expert leadership in producing a platform we can be proud of.
