I’ve been lowering my social media usage recently to give myself more free time. Yesterday, I felt really inspired to start learning video game music composition and picked up an old passion of mine in game development (thread)
I’m using Ableton Live for composition because, in terms of software, I’m familiar with it. I’ve been a percussionist for many years and know basic music theory, so I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with different VSTs and styles
At one point I was working on an RPG with RPG Maker VX Ace, but something happened and sprinting/encounters were broken so I gave up. Now, I’m starting anew with RPG Maker MV and really want to put my all into it. The code changed from Ruby to JavaScript so it’ll be fun to learn
Even if the prospect of an RPG made with an RPG Maker doesn’t sound good, I promise there are so many tools available and you can really make something unique without having to code from scratch. RPG Maker MZ is on the horizon, but I’ll stick with MV
I don’t have any concrete schedule, but I’ll hopefully share some work when I have something substantial I’m proud of. Since I’ve been gaming nonstop since March because of the current state of the world, this’ll be a good change of pace and give me some valuable skills!
