1/10 - Here is the review of my 2nd season playing FPL.
In the following thread, I discuss my motivation, my goals, what went wrong, and what went good.

2/10 - In my 1st season last year, I ended up 7,644th in the world after a few rookie mistakes that saw me drop in ranks from top 500 to top 8K in the second half of the season (including the GW when I prepared to use my BB and forgot to activate it
).

3/10 - Looking back to the previous season when this new one kicked off, I set an ambitious goal for myself to finish in the top 5K
So what were the mistakes I did mainly at the beginning of the season, causing my slow start?

4/10 - Stubbornness, failing to switch quickly to in-form players and ending up chasing points.
A good example at the beginning of the season was resisting the switch from Sterling to De Bruyne and ending up losing 15 points (captaincy excluded).

5/10 - Playing by the book and in particular listening to advice such as ignoring players transferred from other leagues and avoiding newly promoted teams. Examples are Pukki whom I missed the party and Lundstram whom I owned but saw around 40 points lost on the bench
6/10 - Making rushed moves and taking risky uncalculated hits. 4 out of the 7 hits I took this season happened to be in the first 10 GW, which saw me play my first WC. Failed hits saw me drop in ranking down to 1,630,528
7/10 - Captaincy Failures. Although I managed to get returns from my captains 24 times in 38 GWs, 9 out of those 24 times came from single assists in the matches.
8/10 - On the bright side, and despite the wrong decisions and moves, few actions help up climb the ranks up to the top 60K to end up the season in the top 1% percentile.
The good use of chips paid off this season:

9/10 - The pause/plan/execute actions helped me regain the lost positions caused by the quick reactions in previous GWs, with everything that goes along in terms of demotivation and excitement.
