There is a huge difference concerning Marie Antoinette. She was a child who was basically kept in ignorance of her own population until she was married off. In many ways she was ignorant of power, population, and what people actually needed. Melania is a grown ass woman.

Melania was *never* ignorant of her surroundings in the White House. She can use a search engine. She can order books. She can physically see what's happening. She isn't ignorant of anything, and YET she says, "Let's redo the rose garden!" Marie Antoinette was sheltered. Melania?

Royal protocol meant this teen had groups of people watching her give birth, pee, get dressed...everything. The life she knew was, "I am royal. My job is to give birth, and be pretty." Melania has had an entire life and complete access to the world. Nothing is stopping her.

Marie Antoinette did some terrible nonsense. Not all of it is her fault. She was a teenager raised to be pretty, have babies, and shut up. Melania is living in the 21st century and CHOSE to marry who she married, and CHOSE to ignore the pandemic, social upheaval, and suffering.
