I am only a humble art director trying to make sense of why people are defending this poorly executed piece of work.

I've seen some VICIOUS takes regarding this, but hopefully through the principles of design, I can show you that this is not the hill to die on....since you crave education so bad.
There are essentially 7 principles of design:
Balance, Rhythm, Pattern, Emphasis, Contrast, Unity and Movement.

We use these principles, along with the elements of design, namely, line, shape, form and texture to create compositions.
1. Balance

Balance refers to the weighting of your composition. It can bring a visual together or it throw it off. Frame three particularly is heavy on the right hand side leaving the very awkward wall space bare, much like this concept https://twitter.com/itsmahdiya/status/1287491391870963714?s=20
2. Rhythm

Rhythm refers to the distribution of subjects on the page and the organisation between them to create a composition. All subjects are huddled together or done in ways that there is no line leading your throughout the imagery.
4. Emphasis
Emphasis creates a focal point/ point of interest in an image. If everything is important nothing is important, one uses contrast to create this and if everything looks the same, there is no emphasis. As for the doillie, that's just poor conceptualisation.
5. Contrast

Contrast is created through two or more opposing parts in an image. It creates balance. Everything is dark. And if you're referring to the guns vs the pink doillie, well that's just binary and honestly in poor taste.
6. Unity

Unity refers to the visual relationship of the elements(as above) in the page. Unity is destroyed through tight cropping, poor focusing, bad use of negative spaces to create breathing room around your subjects and tight cropping on these frames.
I'm not doing all the principles, but these are enough for you to understand my view point as a designer watching everyone defend this poorly executed art. There may be balance, but it is poor balance. There may be contrast, but it is poor.
Let's also touch on this conceptually, using the visual pointers given to us. The showcasing of feminine as light and men as dark is not only revealing the shallow concept, but the colourist undertones too.
Speaking on GBV in a South African context but using a British influence of puffer jackets...are our braincells on vacation???
Tupac quote talking about GBV??? I had to be resuscitated several times. But this makes complete sense when they put a gun in an abuser's hand so....
Maybe next time let's introspect on our own misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, colourism and BLATANT inability to read the FUCKING ROOM before we try to disguise poor IG content as art. That's all this is, poor work.
Not here to argue, simply unpacking your work as requested #DoillieBoiz
FURTHERMORE lolololol, if you as a visual communicator have to write essays in the unfold app, then you didn't do your job as the communicator.
