5 weird ways to add personality to your writing:

/// THREAD ///

1. Use slang from your background / upbringing

- Funny words
- Phrases
- Different language (I like to use Spanish here and there)

(continued)
2. Misspell words (berry good technique)

Best example I can think of now is @oliviercantin with "sinple"

He may not have invented it but definitely known for it around here

Just make sure your audience understands it

Otherwise, they'll think you suck at spelling
3. Add parenthesis with a second explanation

Use them to add:

- Sarcasm
- More interesting details
- Another opinion

i.e. "I didn't eat my eggs today (forgive my sins twitter)"
4. Share something personable from your day

- What you did
- Mention your pet
- Your daily interactions

Not everything needs to be some crazy story

Sometimes sharing a tidbit of your day-to-day life is good for building connection
5. Use similes

Great for showing some of your personality

- Stand out like a dog's balls
- Faster than a rocket full of monkeys
- As slow as old my old internet dial-up

I usually take a simile & twist it a bit

Too common of a simile is boring

Try to find unique & funny ones
Remember...

You need to:

- Give value
- Keep them engaged

Having a personality as a writer is key to this

The above 5 methods are fun ways to stand out
