but yo, let me twitter pastor y'all for a second. I see a lot of people bragging about being the type of Christian that is some version of "saved, but you can catch these hands".
1. It's funny, and I feel that for real. One thing no one is about to do is disrespect the kid.

2. but secondly, and more importantly, at the root of that sentiment is a pick-and-choose version of Christianity that puts you in the driver's seat of which commands you'll obey. That's never going to lead you anywhere good.
I don't think I've ever been as angry as I am now. And to read a scripture to pray for my enemies feels like "naw Jesus, Ima pass on that". And that's when I have to re-orient my life around Jesus the King, not Jesus my homeboy.
"if anyone would follow me, let them deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow me."
Self-denial is essential for following Jesus, and if we don't give Jesus access to every part of our lives, even the inconvenient parts, we're kidding ourselves.

In the words of @jmojacks, a lot of times "I don't want Jesus to be my shepherd, I want him to be my consultant".
And when we find ourselves wanting control over our lives (basically all the time), we need to pray & surrender that to God. "Your kingdom come, your will be done".
