USPS is being actively sabotaged. Has been for years, and as many people have noticed, this sabotage has intensified to incredibly slow service in the past two months. A lot of good threads floating around on it.

One thing I want to make sure we sound the alarm on is the devastating impact the USPS slow downs are having on people who are incarcerated and their loved ones.

Prisons and jails will turn away non-USPS mail addressed to an incarcerated person because they can’t sign for it. You have to use USPS to communicate into prison, and obviously USPS is the only outbound mail service incarcerated folk have.

Phone calls and emails are prohibitive and insufficient. Snail mail is an essential life line for incarcerated folk and it’s being choked off.

I know for a fact letters in and out are being delayed significantly. This is hugely impactful in many, many ways.

Especially in the time of COVID, when communication about conditions, organizing demands, etc, are so critical.

Sabotaging USPS impacts us all, but it literally will help you disappear incarcerated folk. Please don’t leave out what USPS being forced to fail means for people doing bids. Please don’t leave them out.
