Let's go over what got Garrett Foster killed. First Garrett forgot a primary rule of firearm safety, which is always point your weapon in a safe direction. Here he is flagging his wife. 🤦‍♂️
Here Garrett poisoned the jury pool with this idiotic statement making clear that the purpose of his weapon was to intimidate the non-police "pussies" who opposed his group.
Now some are claiming Garrett was reacting to the threat of the car. If an armed person fears for their life or others they have some legal options. 1. Retreat (good idea) 2. Do nothing 3. Use deadly force to neutralize the threat.
Garrett and his friends instead decided to surround the car they were supposedly afraid of (providing the driver with no safe means of retreat) and to angrily approach the driver while armed.
Now future evidence may come out to change the situation for the driver, but as it stands they were surrounded by a group of belligerent individuals without a safe means to leave & an armed individual angrily confronted them with his weapon pointed in the direction of their car.
At that point they are justified in defending themselves against what they reasonably believe is a deadly threat against their life. Now they still may have to defend their actions in a criminal and/or civil trial, but that is why they were released & are not charged so far.
Rights come with responsibilities. And that includes the right to keep and bear arms which I strongly support. When you behave irresponsibly there are consequences and in this case they were deadly consequences.
