It's a smart political move for colleges in the toughest spot about going online (red-state public universities and small private colleges) to announce an online start and a pivot to in-person soon after.
It likely keeps students/families and legislators happier, and colleges can simply extend this online portion for the entire semester in bits and pieces. Now that several colleges have announced this way, is it the new expected announcement?
