Going to be a COVID-19-themed day on the timeline, so I guess I'll leave my thoughts in a thread.
First, I didn't think that the MLB might get canceled entirely because of an outbreak from a team from Florida on the day that we were going to publish this, but that's how things are going lately. https://twitter.com/alligatorSports/status/1287784884707172352
Second, I hope we learned today that bubbles matter. I don't know how it's possible to have sports right now in the US without bubbling. The MLS has had eight straight reports of 0 new COVID-19 cases after a rough start. The NHL just reported 0 new cases. It works.
The MLS should probably be commended for the way it's handled everything. It sucks that two teams couldn't compete, but it has avoided disaster while still having fun, competitive soccer.
Hopefully, the bubbles for the NBA and the NHL will work out well, too.

Lastly, I don't think any writers are rooting for these leagues to fail as they return to play. Sports are great and all, and I do enjoy having a job to do. But at the same time, there's room to have questions about how it's all going to happen.
Anyway, I'm off to enjoy my birthday and watch the Quakes later tonight.
