If you're a parent currently considering a neighbhourhood "pod" for your child/ren, and paying a teacher to essentially turn your block into a private school, you need to understand this act is undermining public education in Ontario.
The more families who choose to opt out of public offerings, the louder the message is to the government that well-funded public education simply isn't necessary.

This hurts the already-most-vulnerable members of our communities who CANNOT make these choices.
Your energy and resources are NEEDED to pressure the government into ensuring safe re-entry for ALL students in the public system. Opting out because you can is quite honestly the absolute most selfish act you can perform right now.
No, I'm not exaggerating, and I'm not willing to pull my punches on this one. You NEED to understand that this choice is the one which flies in the face of community responsibility. If you have ever talked about equity, this is the time to walk your talk.
If you have the means to opt out, you have the means to stay in and fight for everyone else.
