Y’all remember my grandfather passing in Feb, my grandmother had a stroke the day of his funeral, she passed in March. We were unable to gather for her funeral due to current situation. In May my cousin who is an ICU nurse tested positive...1/7 https://twitter.com/aunnagill/status/1287767413165969410
The health department stepped in, told my cousin, aunt, and uncle to quarantine at home for 14 days. Due to my aunt and uncle’s pre-existing health conditions they were considered high risk. My cousin quarantined in the basement, used a separate bathroom. 2/7
My aunt on the first floor, another separate bathroom. And my uncle on the second floor, with his own bathroom. Within the first week my aunt and uncle were definitely infected. The health department moved in quickly and took my uncle to the hospital. 3/7
He was immediately taken to the ICU. It was touch and go for a few weeks. He survived. My aunt, uncle, and cousin all varying degrees of symptoms, my cousin suffered the least. But our entire family felt it all. Every day we expected the text that my uncle had passed. 4/7
We are so tha thankful that we didn’t suffer another loss to our family within the first 6 months of the year.

I don’t think we’ll know the entire science or have all the data for several years. I do know that anything I do to help protect people is minor inconvenience. 5/7
For me it’s not about my freedom. It’s about the knowledge that I might be able to help prevent someone else from going through the same thing our family went through. It’s about knowing that people with pre-existing conditions like #4 are at risk. 6/7
I’ve spent enough time in hospitals last year to never, ever want that for another person. I’ve mourned enough this year. Haven’t you? 7/7
Also, yes, I’m judging the heck out of you. You have decided that even the slightest possibility of slowing the spread of a potentially deadly virus is not as important as sticking it to the government.

Your defiancy is more important to you than my family and my friends.
