One of the many ways Europeans have expressed antiblack racism is through their denials that Africa has a history.

One way they do that is to describe Africa as entirely cut off from the world prior to Europeans “exploring,” conquering, and colonizing it. https://twitter.com/beathas_ailsa/status/1260551782683619329
It continues to be the case that many white representations of Africa ignore African connections to the wider world, both in the past AND TODAY.
European historians, philosphers, archaeologists, natural scientists, etc., have ALL participated in constructing this discourse of Africa as this dark pit of isolation, cut off from contact with the rest of planet earth. They perpetuate this discourse TODAY.
Africa is a HUGE continent. There are natural impediments to travel in some areas. Nonetheless, ancient precolonial trade routes existed between kingdoms, coasts, regions, etc., and African peoples had contact w/ non-Africans ALL THE TIME.
