Is he going to stay home in crucial California... Encourage others to do the same nationwide? Not donate money? Join the Never Trump movement? (AHOY!)
What's his recourse?
Hard to see him doing any of those. (And I agree these fundraising tactics are as gross as his books.) https://twitter.com/jimgeraghty/status/1287768177145974784

The thing is, the NRCC knows how knee deep he is in Trumpism and he really isn't going to do shit about it. They know what works.
I appreciate his concern if he was a good guy (he's not). He just doesn't like when people don't respect him.

And what does the NRCC do? They adopt Trumpism!
I guess when you go around being a dick on Twitter for years and then your party turns on you, you don't like it so much.
Weird how that works!

But in politics, your loyalties are usually a venn diagram of:
*friends
*party
*principles/policy
A lot of it varies depending on where you are and what you do, but when these fights come up where people come down is always fascinating.

But then again, Jim (and others in those circles) were all fans of Kurt's disgusting book.
I just wonder if they actually... read it?

I've met Jim once or twice. I think he's a good guy. I often disagree.
I'm friendly with Hugh, and I think he's a good guy. I often disagree.
Kurt? Not so much. I think Hugh letting him host his show is a mistake. I've told him as much.

Politics have changed, but I think just because your friends turn into bad people doesn't mean you need to stick up for them when they're wrong.
Here, Kurt is not wrong. It's a rare instance where he is right.

But, if you go along with it, at the 11th hour you can't expect them to go, "Oh, well... if Townhall's Kurt Schlichter says we're doing things wrong, maybe we should change."
LOL. They don't care. They're not your friends. I get all of this "the libs will never love you." Shocker. The fact is we understand Trumpism better than its own Colonels.
And so we made a decision to not play by those rules anymore.

People like Kurt will. The NRCC knows this because it's what they've helped build. Ask any incumbent who deters from Trump and Trumpism and then gets thrown out. They can tell you what happens.
No matter the buy in, you don't really get a say. And that's the problem.

We Trump critics aren't going to get roles or a say if/when Trump loses. We know this.
Just as... why we'd Trumpism to go. Not all of us outspoken folks are going to be welcomed back with open arms. But parties are only effective when they can police their own.

And if it becomes a cult of personality, sometimes that has to be purged. Including those who enabled it or did nothing.
