A short thread on the VP thing from the vantage point of being up-close in an early primary state. I went to nearly 40 events here in SC. I met 24 candidates. I think I had maybe 10 conversations with @KamalaHarris. If there's anyone who can be trusted as VP, it's her. 1/
I saw her in rooms where there were no media. Including when she flew across country to meet with us the day after suspending her campaign. She consistently focused her campaign on others & on lifting up their voices instead of her own. 2/
I saw her have her chief of staff get information from a military spouse whose child was poisoned by arsenic on a contaminated base so her Senate staff could get them help. 3/
At another event @KamalaHarris insisted that a Black woman business owner who asked a question say the name of her business so that her business could get free publicity. 4/
. @KamalaHarris consistently centered others, not herself, at her events. Including when she lifted up the spirits of relatives of Emanuel 9 shooting victims in two separate conversations I witnessed. 5/
Or when she gave my friend @deitramatthews’ daughter, Caroline, advice on how to run for student body president. 6/
When she got together with us after she suspended her campaign, @KamalaHarris said we need to focus on winning this presidential election with one of the other candidates in order to defeat Trump. 7/
She insisted that everyone stay involved in this election in order to defeat Trump. And she made her organizers promise her that they would do so. @JoeBiden couldn’t have a more loyal & trusted VP than @KamalaHarris. 8/8
