1/X Ok. Couple things before we get into our collective outrage contest:
1. The dudes obviously a GEM, and his passive aggressive condescension is thick enough to indicate he’s a... you know.
2. We are missing a LOT of context, if we want to start burning people at the stake. https://twitter.com/thewtfnation/status/1287397965057990656

3. @PatDonahoeArmy has a good point, PLs only get a year to build rapport with their elements. So that begs the question, does the LT do this daily? Weekly? Then yeah it’s probably gonna be an issue he needs to discuss with the CO. But once or twice a semester? Spare me.
Leader PT with the CO, BC, BDE CDR, and now whoever the writer is on Monday morning is ALSO not allowing them to PT with their Soldiers, so let’s try being more honest about what our concerns really are if we are going to complain about people pursuing higher education.
4. Senior leaders in the Army EXCEL at imagining single incidences are proof positive of catastrophic patterns that lie just out of sight. In this case it looks like this person saw something, got mad, didn’t look into it or past their own knee jerk emotions, and wrote an email.
That said, do your part and talk to your CoC when you are going to do something someone’s going to get bent out of shape about. Justifiable or not, because even unjustified anger from petty higher ups is inconvenient. But top cover helps if you’re clear about what’s going on.
5. Higher education should absolutely be encouraged in the military. In fact, way more than it is. But remember to balance it with your job, don’t try to use it as a moral trump card to justify shirking your responsibilities to your Soldiers and you should be good to go.
