Hi. I'm a Jew. (Shocker, I know.) While I agree that there should be #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate the 48 hour boycott is silly because taking ourselves off twitter for 2 days won't do @jack. So, instead, let's talk about the twitter "hateful conduct policy": https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/hateful-conduct-policy
THREAD: Ok. So no promotion of violence or inciting harm, either through tweets or through imagery and usernames. Pretty straightforward. Someone says "Kill the Jews," you can report the tweet. And you should.
This also goes for "The gas chambers are waiting for you" etc.

(Fun fact about this before we get too far in: you have the power to report any violence-inciting tweets directed at any religious/racial/gender/sexual orientation/disabled/etc group. *And you should*. Protection ain't just for Jews.)

Next. Why does twitter care about abuse? 'Cause free expression is great but people from underrepresented groups are disproportionately targeted. Seems obvious. That last paragraph is key: twitter wants to combat "abuse motivated by hatred, prejudice, or intolerance." (3/)
Ok. But how does it actually work when someone posts something bad? And what counts as bad? A few categories here:
1) Direct violent threats. If you say: "I'm gonna cause harm/kill you/etc" you can be permanently suspended. Boom.

2) The "Thoughts and Prayers" threat. Not actually threatening violence yourself but comments like: "They should get the gas chambers ready for you people."
3) The use of imagery as harassment. Like sending a Jew a picture of Auschwitz. (BTW: we've seen it before.)

4) Ok. So this is a big one. Inciting fear. This is the thing that we probably should be reporting most and are most likely to engage with directly instead. People can't say: "The Jews are murderers" or "Jews drink Christian baby blood." Don't just retort. Report that. (6/)
5) Language. I won't type the words, but you know them.
6) Imagery. So not just messaging someone a Holocaust image directly but posting videos with swastikas etc. Fun.
If you see *any* of the above, you can report it. And you should. (7/)

Silence does not combat anti-Semitism.
Silence does not combat racism.
Silence does not combat a single -ism or -phobia.
Our voices do.
So speak up. Report the threads. Report the accounts. Not just for Jews. For *everyone.*
